Meet the Host

Erik and Junhee are offshore sailors combining over 20 years of sailing experience. Both are the founders of PVO Expeditions; a nonprofit organization born to pursue adventure projects with positive impact goals in mind, connecting SDGs to every opportunity people get out in nature.

The duo is driven by the elements; such as water, wind & snow, and enjoys outdoor activities at all times. They are always seeking new ways to explore nature and push boundaries through exciting adventures.

What to Expect?

Week 1

7 days (6 nights) sailing on a yacht focused on exploring the local scenes and active adventure; Atlantic Ocean sailing, mountain hikes, waterfalls, water sports, caipirinhas, and lots of swimming and relaxing. A week to be surrounded by authentic culture and unique tropical nature.

Week 2 (Optional)

Pre-Carnival week in Rio. As soon as you return back to the base port, get ready for a new week beginning with the one-of-a-kind experience! We will be enjoying the festival to the fullest, fueled by lots of local recommendations and events. (*Accommodation in Rio not included)

What Impact Do We Create?

At PVO Expeditions, our firm belief is that we can spread positive energy while having lots of fun. In fact, the impact is greater when people are having such an amazing time together and that energy can be transferred to others even bigger scale as a remarkable experience. Imagine the world we can create when we all have this mindset. The rest is assured. 😍

*This route will focus on the advancement of the inner self by emerging into the local settings; discovering the culture, nature, and people, and unfolding the social aspects of the region.

  • Community improvement and influence on the local community: talks & taught session

  • Walk the talk session: i.e. How to interact with the local community in a way where both sides have a positive experience

  • Open discussion & self-reflection session to help advance consciousness and overcome individual challenges: https://www.innerdevelopmentgoals.org/

  • Group onboard challenge: i.e. Zero plastic waste

  • Share & spread knowledge: i.e. Harnessing wind power to travel from A to B, understanding weather systems and navigation skills to put to use in everyday life, how to overcome anxiety, etc.

It's a week before the real carnival but this is more of the local event which we will avoid massive tourist crowds but be able to immerse ourselves in the local scene.

What is Rio Carnival About?

A celebration of culture, united people, and music with original songs and drum beats that won’t leave you standing. 💃

Don’t forget to bring costumes, Brazilians are very creative with ideas!

Sambodromo official parade - this is where the professional samba schools compete for the title of the Carnival crown of the year.

Street Carnival with over 500 parades with real musicians playing during the 5-day period. Full costumes is is a must for the whole experience!

Carnival special events - As if there weren’t enough parties, privately organized events take over the city, making Carnival a day and night non-stop event.
